Meta Pixel Integration

Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel) integration enables powerful advertising tracking and optimization for your Facebook and Instagram campaigns. DokanGo's dual tracking system ensures reliable data collection for better ad performance.

Overview

Meta Pixel tracks customer actions on your store, sending this data to Facebook to help optimize your advertising campaigns and measure their effectiveness.

Key Capabilities

  • Dual tracking system (browser-side and server-side)
  • Automatic event tracking
  • Purchase conversion tracking
  • Custom audience building
  • Campaign optimization
  • Privacy-compliant implementation

What Is Meta Pixel?

Meta Pixel is a piece of code that tracks visitor behavior on your website and sends this information to Facebook.

Why It Matters

Campaign Optimization:

  • Facebook uses pixel data to show your ads to people most likely to buy
  • Automatic bid optimization based on conversion data
  • Better targeting leads to lower cost per purchase

Conversion Tracking:

  • See which ads lead to actual sales
  • Calculate return on ad spend (ROAS)
  • Understand customer journey from ad to purchase

Audience Building:

  • Create custom audiences of people who visited your store
  • Build lookalike audiences similar to your customers
  • Retarget people who viewed products but didn't buy

Performance Measurement:

  • Track which campaigns drive sales
  • Measure ad effectiveness
  • Optimize budget allocation

Dual Tracking System

DokanGo implements both browser-side and server-side tracking for maximum reliability.

Browser-Side Tracking

How It Works:

  • Pixel code loads in customer's browser
  • JavaScript tracks actions as they happen
  • Data sent directly from browser to Facebook

Advantages:

  • Real-time tracking
  • Captures detailed browsing behavior
  • Standard implementation

Limitations:

  • Blocked by ad blockers
  • Affected by browser privacy settings
  • iOS 14+ restrictions reduce accuracy

Server-Side Conversions API

How It Works:

  • DokanGo server sends event data to Facebook
  • Bypasses browser limitations
  • More reliable data transmission

Advantages:

  • Not blocked by ad blockers
  • Not affected by browser privacy settings
  • More accurate conversion tracking
  • Better data quality

Why Both? Using both methods ensures maximum data capture:

  • Browser-side catches what server-side might miss
  • Server-side catches what browser-side can't track
  • Combined data gives Facebook the best information for optimization

Track ROAS - Monitor return on ad spend to evaluate campaign effectiveness.

Retarget Strategically - Show different ads to viewers, cart abandoners, and past customers.

Test and Iterate - Use pixel data to test different audiences, creatives, and strategies.

Respect Privacy - Be transparent about tracking and respect customer preferences.

Monitor Data Quality - Check Events Manager regularly to ensure data is flowing correctly.

Troubleshooting

Events Not Showing

Check:

  • Pixel ID is correct
  • Access token is valid
  • Internet connectivity
  • Facebook Events Manager status

Solution:

  • Verify credentials in settings
  • Regenerate access token if needed
  • Wait a few minutes for data to appear

Low Match Rate

Causes:

  • Missing customer email/phone
  • Hashing issues
  • Privacy settings blocking data

Solutions:

  • Encourage customers to provide email
  • Verify hashing is working correctly
  • Use server-side tracking (better match rates)

Duplicate Events

Causes:

  • Both browser and server sending same event
  • Multiple pixel installations

Solution:

  • DokanGo handles deduplication automatically
  • Verify only one pixel is installed
